Clinical Applications

Cytokine rich plasma (CRP) grafting techniques are now being utilized in musculoskeletal medicine with increasing frequency and effectiveness. Soft tissue injuries treated with CRP include tendonopathy, tendonosis, acute and chronic muscle strain, muscle fibrosis, ligamentous sprains, and joint capsular laxity. CRP has also been utilized to treat intra-articular injuries. Examples include arthritis, arthrofibrosis, articular cartilage defects, meniscal injury, and chronic synovitis or joint inflammation.

Intra-operatively, CRP can be used for the following orthopedic injuries and procedures:

  • Bone Fractures
  • Laminectomy Procedures
  • Lateral Epicondylitis (ie, tennis elbow)
  • Nonunion and Bony Defects
  • Other Total Joint Arthroplasty Procedures (e.g., hip, shoulder)
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Shoulder Arthroscopy and Distal Clavicle Resection and
  • Spinal Fusion

In addition to orthopedic applications, CRP has been used for plastic surgery:

  • Face, Neck and Brow Lifts
  • Endoscopic Brow Blephroplasty
  • Facial Laser Procedures
  • Breast Reconstruction, Reduction, Mammoplasty, and Transverse Rectus Abdominis Myocutaneous (TRAM) Flap
  • Abdominoplasty
  • Cranio-Facial Reconstruction
  • Non-Healing Wounds
  • Large & Small Fat Transfers

  • Tympanoplasty
  • Fixation of Cartilage, Bone, or Artificial Implants
  • Dura and Facia Grafting
  • Skin Graft Fixation
  • Local Hemostasis in Patients with Bleeding (Tonsillectomy, Adenoidectomy, Mucous Membrane Defects)

Oral surgery, peridontal, dental implant surgery:

  • Mandibular Reconstruction/Bone Grafts
  • LeFort Fractures (Guerin’s Fracture)
  • Sinus Lifts/Naso-Alveolar Repair
  • Dental Implants
